John Howard, MD
John’s daughter refers to him as a renaissance man. He may not have set out in life to become one as he fulfilled his dream of being a physician but life has a way of altering plans. He practiced as an Interventional Radiologist for nearly 20-years enjoying his craft and caring for patients.
As Managing Partner and President of his former radiology group, John with the help of others, spearheaded the opening of three outpatient imaging centers within a years-time, managed the growth of his practice to over $25 million and negotiated an agreement that increased the physician salaries by 25%, allowing the recruitment of top talent.
As chief of vascular and interventional radiology, he doubled the size and staff of the IR suite and increased the interventional procedure count by over 500%. Working with four different vascular surgery groups, performing hundreds of abdominal aortic stent-grafts, is a testament not only to his respected technical skills, but also his communication and leadership abilities.
Unfortunately, he became ill with a neuromuscular condition and was forced to retire from medicine. That was certainly a huge blow physically and mentally, but John rose from that and reinvented and adapted himself to his new reality and has gone on to lead an enriched and blessed life contributing to the lives of others.
He became an experienced and successful business owner, real estate investor, certified coach and consultant in business and healthcare, chief operating and chief medical officer of a multisite pain management and physical medicine practice, and adviser and mentor to numerous people and companies.
John has a proven history of effective leadership, communication, intelligence gathering and development in the business, healthcare and real estate industries. He has spearhead numerous projects including the building of imaging centers, multi-million-dollar diagnostic equipment purchases, and most recently an EHR roll-out to 8 different locations going live simultaneously.
If you ask John how he has transformed himself and adapted many times over he would tell you it was through personally growing as an individual in many areas of life. This framework allowed John to adapt and change to the fluid circumstances of his environment. He has lived through, managed and successfully navigated the constantly changing landscapes he has been confronted with and therefore is a true practitioner of what he teaches and trains.
John has joined the Turning Point Advisors to provide additional experience and depth to better service our medical imaging industry clients.
